Ovechkin Hits 60

Alexander Ovechkin became the first player in 12 years to score 60 goals in a season with two last night. However the Washington Capitals still remain a game out of the Eastern Conference Playoffs and have already played more games than any other East contender in the bottom half of the Playoff picture. They also remain 7 points behind the Carolina Hurricanes for the Southeast Division lead with no games in hand.

Ovechkin now has a ten goal cushion over Ilya Kovalchuk for the most goals and a four point lead over Evgeni Malkin for the overall scoring title.

So Long to Elam

Well I guess the Falcons are trying to get younger. After all isn’t a 37-year old kicker a big improvement over one who’s 47?
Anyway, they signed ex-Bronco Jason Elam to a four year/10 million dollar deal.

I’m still wondering why Denver let him walk after he had four game-winners last
year. That’s more than 50% of their wins!
Now they have to find a replacement. Elam has been the kicker for 15 years now, and has missed only four games. Currently they have Matt Prader listed as the top kicker on the depth chart, but he was cut by both Miami and Atlanta last year. How good can he really be?
