An overtime victory over Memphis gave the Jayhawks their first NCAA Mens Basketball title in 20 years. It was the seventh time the title game went to overtime. Memphis still finished with the most wins ever in a season in mens college basketball.
And once again the Tigers missed vital free throws in a big game; so much for Calipari’s theory. That gave Mario Chalmers a chance to hit a game-tying three with 2 seconds to go to send it to OT. And once the teams were in the extra frame, Kansas pulled away for a 75-68 win.
But at least freshman Derrick Rose woke up in the second half. He took over the game and gave Memphis a lead.

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) – Antonio Anderson scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and 13th-ranked Memphis ripped Massachusetts, 80-58, to make John Calipari the winningest coach in program history. The win was
