Playoff Hockey is under way! Gary Roberts gets the first goal of the postseason with a nice backhander. It actually seemed like he was attempting a no-look pass to the crease area and hit an opening for the score.
Pens 2- Sens 0. That entire play by Ottawa was pathetic; especially Commodore.
Marc-Andre Fleury notched the first playoff shutout by a Penguins goalie since ‘01. 4-0 is the final score in Pittsburgh with Gary Roberts netting two goals before being ejected (In addition to some Sens players) with 11.5 seconds left. Evgeni Malkin and Petr Sykora tacked on the other two.
Ottawa didn’t have an offense. Even with two 5-on-3s, they weren’t getting shots on net. They just passed it back and forth outside of the crease. The Pens were in control all game long.
I originally thought Crosby was injured again when he hit the boards with his feet in the third. Him sitting there like he did added to the suspense.
In the Devils-Rangers game, Marty Brodeur’s mishandling of the puck on a Power Play opened the flood gates for a three-goal third from New York. The Rangers won 4-1 and take a 1-0 series lead in Jersey.
