Philly Grabs 3-1 Lead

It required more than four periods of play, but the Flyers prevailed 4-3 in their home building to take a commanding 3-1 series over Washington. Jeff Carter had two goals, Daniel Briere added another and Mike Knuble got the game-winner 6:40 into the 2nd OT.

Nicklas Backstrom, Alexander Semin, and Steve Eminger scored for the Caps.

Dallas Goes Up 3-1

The Dallas Stars have put the defending champion Anaheim Ducks in quite a hole. A 3-1 win tonight gives the Stars a 3-1 series lead as the teams head back to the Honda Center.

Joel Lundqvist, Stu Barnes and  Steve Ott scored for Dallas. Mathieu Schneider prevented a shutout with a goal 8 seconds from the end.

Boston Keeps Breathing

Entering tonight’s game down 3-1 in their series against the Montreal Canadiens, the Bruins knew they had to win. And they kept their slim hopes alive with a 5-1 thrashing of Montreal at the Bell Centre. All five different goal scorers tallies were unanswered.

Phil Kessel, Glen Metropolit, Zdeno Chara, Marco Sturm and Vladimir Sobotka scored for Boston. Alex Kovalev was the lone goal getter for Montreal.

Now the 3-2 series will head back to Boston for Game 6.

Nashville Evens Series

The Predators took Game 4 of their Western Conference Playoff Series against the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Detroit Red Wings 3-2. The series is now 2-2 with the home team having one every game.

Once again Nashville recorded two goals in less than a minute as Dan Hamhuis and Shea Weber scored 32 seconds apart in the first period. Greg De Vries scored the game-winner in the second and chased Wings goalie Dominik Hasek. Chris Osgood stopped all 13 shots he faced, while Hasek managed 11 saves on 14 shots. However, the only Red Wing to beat Dan Ellis was Pavel Datsyuk (two goals).
