Stars Advance, Sharks Lose

The Dallas Stars beat Jean-Sebastian Giguere 3 times in the third period and Mike Modano added an empty-net, Power Play goal to seal the series win. Marty Turco allowed only one goal, a Corey Perry tally 2:31 into the game. J.S Giguere stopped all 16 shots he faced in the first two periods, but Stephane Robidas, Stu Barnes and Loui Eriksson solved Giguere in the final period.
This is the fifth straight year that the defending Cup champion hasn’t even made it back to the second round.

The Flames kept themselves alive on the strength of Miikka Kiprusoff’s 21 save shutout. The 2-0 blanking of San Jose sets up a Game 7 in the Shark Tank. Owen Nolan and Daymond Langkow were the goal-getters.
